If you are here, it means you're set on a character you'd like to play with. I'm excited in advance at the prospect!
I am Meishali, my timezone is CET (EU, France), though I can be available at NA times every now and then.
Contact is made via Discord, and I role-play exclusively in game. I'm plot-heavy, but very low-maintenance!
We do not have to role-play regularly for me to enjoy it.
Before we go, however, here's some more info!
I will always, always
gladly take:
โ๏ธ Well-crafted lore headcanons to compliment grey spaces around Hydaelyn
โ๏ธ Strictly lore-abiding designs
Things I enjoy tremendously but that need to be discussed:
โ Explicit and/or sensitive themes (sex, gore, abuse, violence, etc.)
โ Powerful characters
Yes to:
โ๏ธ Being enthusiastic and confident about role-play!
โ๏ธ Being upfront about OOC wants for the narrative!
โ๏ธ Asking for consent **consistently **together!
โ๏ธ Sharing ideas consistently together!
No to:
โ Pressuring partners for game time, directly or indirectly!
โ Being opaque about narrative wants and dislikes!
โ Leaving one partner to deal with planning and plot!
โ Forgetting role-play is just collaborative writing!
โ Negativeposting about how much you suck!
I would prefer:
๐ Debriefs after sessions. See what the narrative was like, our character's motivations, and discuss it together for fun!
๐ People with initiative. People providing strong hooks during play, as I do, and who will reach out to me on their own terms.
๐ People with an entourage. I like to engage people who do their best to meet as many players as they can. I do not want to be your only role-play partner.
We cannot write together if:
โ You role-play as the Warrior of Light themself, named NPCs, or frequently sockpuppet named NPCs.
โ You incorporate heavily anachronistic and/or heavily militarized themes to your role-play.
โ You use words such as "f+/futa/trap/femboy" and other terms harmful to trans people.
โ You are a sealioning racist, LGBT+phobe, cop-lover and/or capitalist bootlicker.
โ Your character is under the age of 18.
โ You are under the age of 21.

Nathaniel
ยซ Adventure comes to mind, to the lot of them. I only see war. I would not want them to wake up and think I cheated them the day we suffer great losses. Great losses no 'scholarly expedition' should have been living through. I want them safe. So I will try them. Again. And again. And again. Until the reasonable leave, and the fools remain. ยป
โ Nathaniel to Valeriaux, during the Voyage's campaign.
Name: Nathaniel Witchfire, of Salem (born Hakim Ahsan)
Ethnicity: Hyuran (Half-highlander, half-midlander)
Age: Early 40s
Nameday: 28th Sun of the Fifth Umbral Moon (10/28)
Nationality: Ul'dahn
Occupation: Priest of Nald'thal
Nathaniel of Salem, also referred to as Father Salem, is a highly-competent sorcerer and alchemist coming from a long line of priests. Firm and strict, Nathanielโs Royalist tendencies are known throughout most of Ulโdah and within the Order of Nald'thal itself. His constant success in prosecuting the powerful and the corrupt has left him with a few enemies within Thanalan's high spheres, but his work is acknowledged as holy by common men. His methods divide public opinion: if he is regarded as a saint by some, others seem certain there is a variety of vices practiced behind closed doors.
Known Proficiencies: Tutelage, Rhetorics, Sorcery, Enchantments, Theology, Aetherochemistry, Ul'dahn History, Cursebreaking, Exorcism, Swordsmanship.

๐ Student of the Ossuary or Phrontistery. Perhaps you enjoy the man's lectures more than you thought you would, and are in need of personal help for a project.
๐บ In need of his skillset, no gil to offer. Nothing's free in Ul'dah, but the character heard Nathaniel may provide help within Thanalan for about any situation without asking for anything in return, and has helped many others through such a process. A deal with the devil, according to some.
๐๏ธ Esteemed colleagues. The characters regularly work together, and are currently set on a project, either within the Alchemists' Guild, or the Thaumaturges' Guild. They may or may not appreciate one another.
๐ Foreign contacts. Nathaniel is looking to better his relationships with merchants and noblemen from beyond his borders. The character is new to Ul'dah and needs a caretaker: Nathaniel has been chosen for the task.
๐ฐ Part-time employee. Mercenaries, herbalists, couriers, courtesans and street rats with sharp ears. People Nathaniel relies on for his business' well-being. He may have contracted the character through the Adventurers' Guild, or via other conduits.
๐งง A man to employ. Recent events have driven one of Nathaniel's major benefactors away, and he is working in parallel as alchemist and consultant to put bread on the table. Your character has decided to hire a man of his skill and mettle, expanding a fortune for his services (or his company).
โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ Anything you would be available to work with, or have ideas for! I am very open to pre-established relationships, for as long as they are modular and superficial.

๐ In need of spiritual guidance. Nathaniel speaks for Azeyma and Nald'thal both, but remains a priest of the Twelve. Maybe your character has elected him as their personal counselor and comes to consult him every now and then for comfort and confidence's sake.
๐๏ธ Thavnairian acquaintances. Nathaniel's mother was from Thavnair: when he visits the continent away from the Order, he is largely known there as Hakim, son of Fareeha, and lives away from sacerdotal duties, if only for a moment. You've met him there and/or are highly surprised in the strict way of life he's living here, in Eorzea.
โ๏ธ Private tutoring for Ul'dahn nobility. For all of his Royalist nonsense, Nathaniel's skills are undeniable. The character is a young, promising nobleperson whose parents or caretakers reluctantly chose Nathaniel as a new private tutor for the discipline of their choice.
๐ฎ Follower of Saint Salemtaza Matataza. Nathaniel and priests of his ilk are known to be "of Salem", taking the doctrines of Salemtaza Matataza of Belah'dia, a dunesfolk saint that brought water to the arid parts of Thanalan through feats of conjury. His followers worship Azeyma and Nald'thal both. Though largely obsolete, there are some rare keepers and believers of the faith. You are adjacent to their beliefs, and/or seek counseling from a Salemite.
Narrative intent and challenges
Nathaniel was built for social situations, and to address dynamics of power, responsibility, and politics in a pre-modern world. His themes are centered around culture against nature, redemption, rebellion against corruption, spirituality, loss of agency, power imbalance, violence and boundless love for family and home.Mundane adventuring is out of the question, and combat RP is largely off the table as a result. He is an extremely competent character built specifically as anchor, mentor and consultant, which I know can be difficult to handle within an MMORP context. It is also something that I know relies on the most part of the quality of my writing. I always put my partner's needs before my own, so you will never role-play anything you do not want to role-play! That includes being subjected to powerful actions! It is also important to know that when I speak of Nathaniel as a man of law, he is a man of divine law: he knows most of the laws applied in Ul'dah serve the rich, the powerful, and a variety of classes he despises. His values lie in passation of knowledge, care for others, though the application isn't always... Thorough. Nathaniel is a deeply flawed individual, though not one incapable of good things. This needs to be acknowledged by my partners in turn.
Narrative impossibilities
โ I can not role-play Nathaniel with aetherially tainted, possessed, haunted, void-touched subjects.
(Why?) Nathaniel is an ableist zealot, an aetherochemist and an exorcist by trade. He will want to fix the subject (place, item, or person)'s situation upon feeling their presence, by all means necessary. This situation is non-negotiable due to the Nathaniel's narrative build. I do not want to police other people's characters and certainly not halt them in their fun, but Nathaniel will! Demons, corruption, and all of these things are a liability, and feared throughout Eorzea and beyond for a reason - reason Nathaniel has fully experienced during the Calamity and throughout his education as mage. He will want them cleansed, sealed, if not destroyed. That's why I would prefer to avoid playing with such subjects altogether, unless we're extremely thorough in how it is built. If you do need Nathaniel as a nuke option for any kind of plot you have tied to such a thing though, let me know!
โ I can not role-play Nathaniel with characters wielding forbidden magic (black, white, void, necromancy etc.).
(Why?) Same as above. Nathaniel is a man of law and a capable mage hunter. He believes that most people should stay incapable of wielding this kind of power for safety reasons. Again, I do not wish to police characters, nor roleplay any sort of chase!
ยซ Time spent wondering what men fear most is a wasteโIt is either death, or failure. This divides the world into two distinct categories of people. Those who favor survival, and those who favor ideals. ยป

Lucaell
ยซ You destroyed me as much as she did, then. Years of paranoia spent thinking of friends as people ready to sell me for coin. I wouldn't wish a life of loneliness of that degree to anybody. Except to you. ยป
โ Lucaell to an old friend, reminiscing betrayal.
Name: Lucaell the Bard (born Lucilia Townsend)
Ethnicity: Hyuran (Midlander)
Age: Mid 20s
Nameday: 25th Sun of the Sixth Umbral Moon (12/25)
Nationality: Undisclosed
Occupation: Adventurer, Bard
A baby-faced, wide-eyed young woman of Hyuran descent, Lucaell is the very archetype of the Eorzean adventurer. She is as scruffy, as exhausted, and as starved for attention and gil as any other man or woman seen lurking by levemates and their counters all over Eorzea and beyond. The bastard daughter of an influential Sharlayan scholar that had turned to piracy after being exiled in La Noscea, Lucaell has since made a name for herself, breaking her shackles of 'daughter of'. Nobles and commoners alike vie for her attention, often adoring her skills as writer and musician, as well as her outsanding presence on stage. When she's not pilfering gil, sinking into debt, or antagonizing patrons, anyhow. Here's a character that values freedom above all.
Known Proficiencies: Music Theory, Acting, Minstrelsy, Disguise, Archery, Gunmanship, Tracking, Diving, Hunting, Bardism, Sharlayan Sagecraft.

๐ป Are you Lucaell the Bard?! You've seen her perform and move rugged crowds of the Adventurers' Guild. You know she's allied with notorious bandits. Maybe you're an admirer who would like to hire her for song or two, or maybe you're someone she owes a lot of money to. Huh-oh.
๐ฐ Levemates, always. Living day to day, most of Lucaell's gil is made through levework, taking up plates from the Adventurers' Guild. It's very likely you could use an archer of her caliber to complete a mission, or have met her beforehand, and thoroughly enjoyed working with her.
๐น Eagle-Eyed Lucile. The girl's first real trip in Eorzea led her to Gridania: the Archers' Guild both loves and hates her. If she shines in every tournament and inspires the kids, she tends to break targets laid out through the forest, leaves a mess in her locker, and tends to slack when the missions do not interest her. Her appearances at the guild are sparse, but her general idiocy made her a bit of a legend. You're a member or a local who knows her.
๐ต Skysinger, perhaps. Beyond the fun-loving girl and the adventurer stands a bard, but one that is beyond mere minstrelsy. Aetherially inclined characters can easily feel the weight of a soul crystal on her person belonging to bards of Eld. A lost art whose history nearly died with the Autumn War. Wherever did she get it, and why are you so eager to find out?
๐ฃ๏ธ Information broker. Who's small, blue-haired, smart, and travels all over Eorzea? Through the mud and to the underworld... Lucaell's bardic skills also allow her to move even around nobility or bourgeoisie, when invited as performer. You would not believe whatever is heard there. Send her off to investigate for you.

๐ฎ Only mages wear foci of that caliber. Beneath the girl's shirts lies a small pendant bearing strong aetherial qualities of light, water and wind. Any mage worth their salt would know the thing is a sorcerer's focus of foreign make, made portable. Perhaps its true form is a staff, or a grimoire? This item is probably worth a manse in Ul'dah's hightown. Why is a bum like her carrying it, why does your character care?
๐ Daughter of Galante the Cruel. Lucaell's mother was known throughought La Noscea and even Sharlayan as Galante the Cruel. A brilliant businesswoman by day, and a cunning pirate queen by night. Unbeknownst to the population then, she had enslaved notorious pirate crews to do her bidding. The woman faked bankruptcy to stash her treasure on a cursed island, and finally died in an arson some few turns back. The Townsend ironworks have since been bought, and Galante's allies killed or emprisoned. Where does Lucaell stand in all of this? And why does your character care?
๐ Student of Sharlayan. Through recent developments, Lucaell has made the choice to give in to her mother's family demands, and visit them in the Old World. She is periodically seen there, forced into the Studium by relatives she knows little about. You may have seen her there, and understood her out of place, or struggling with matters of discipline. What is a bum like her doing there, and why does your character care?
๐ Sister of Sue Townsend, the Whorl's End. Of all the Townsend known in and around Limsa Lominsa, Galante wasn't the only one. Sue Towsend, Lucaell's older sister, was a hero among the members of the Maelstrom, eager to wash away her mother's misdeeds through acts of heroism. A staple and great teacher of the Coral Tower, she fell Leviathan twice with her crew in the span of a single turn... Only to die at the hand of a Garlean spy some turns after the Calamity, her tragic death preceding even her mother's. Where does Lucaell stand in all of this? And why does your character care?
Narrative intent and challenges
Lucaell is, as of now, my most flexible character to play with. She is easy to approach and easy to converse with, she has a lot of free time, and can virtually be found all over Hydaelyn. If she was built with comfort of integration to various plots in mind, this does not mean she is always easy to play with. Lucaell can be difficult, and prone to antagonizing other characters, even if she will consistently interact with them. She is a bard character, tried and true, and designed to explore narratives surrounding avoidance, loneliness, cycles of abuse, exploration, romance and discovery of the self. Lucaell is also neurodivergent and specifically on the spectrum. If she appears as the most down-to-earth and simple character of my roster, she has just as much depth as the others. She is most accessible, and ideal for people new to role-play, or the FFXIV setting.
Narrative impossibilities
โ I can not role-play Lucaell with pro-ex-Empire Garlean characters.
(Why?) Lucaell is Eorzean. Along with many other characters, she has been traumatized by the impact of the Garlean Empire on the world: nothing comes to mind to rationalize their acts of cruelty. She isn't inscribed in a nihilism profound enough not to care - mottos such as "War never changes", and the fact that some people are just "bound" to be imperialists or purely indoctrinated does nothing for her. Her vision of the Empire is black and white, and this, for now, can not be changed. She is likely to actively harm, or otherwise attempt to kill the character on sight, after discovering their affiliation. This degree of conflict can not really be eased, and will be littered with strong conflict of interest (the goal being to write together as much as we can).

Tieve
ยซ You read stories of heroes wearing wolfskin to go through the woods unnoticed. Through that logic, what do wolves wear, in the throes of civilization? ยป
โ Tieve, to a friend, on matters of animality.
Name: Tieve Corwell
Ethnicity: Hyuran (Midlander)
Age: Unknown, assumed early twenties
Nameday: 32nd Sun of the Third Astral Moon (31/05)?
Nationality: Gridanian
Occupation: Conjurer, Hearer for Stillglade Fane
A maple wand, washed-off blue robes and a pointy hat: this Hyur stands as one of the many hearers of Gridania. Eager to help and satisfy, she's often seen assisting others in any way she can. Understood as having the confidence doormat in most contexts nowadays, Tieve talks about many things eagerly, but rarely about herself.
Albeit a skilled conjurer, and a loyal agent of the Shroud, Tieve struggles to connect with her peers, due to with an unhealthy amount of superstitions relating to incidents happening during her teenage years, as well as a parent she never knew, but that the city seemed to loathe. Leading an isolated lifestyle, Tieve strives to better the relationships between man and nature, favoring contact with the marginalized clans of the Woods, such as the Sylphs, Ixali, Keeper, Duskwight, or otherwise.
Known Proficiencies: Hearing, Aetherial Empathy, Gridanian Conjury, Cursebreaking, Wardmaking, Aetherial Glamours, Traditional Medicine, Botany, Divination (Haruspicy, Lithomancy, Oneiromancy).

๐ฟ Blessings against Greenwrath. Tieve is one of the many agents of the Twelveswoods able to ease woodsin through prayer or rites in an official capacity. Your character has a troubles passing through the boughs, and is in need of her services on short or long-term.
๐ฉธ Discrete healer. The ruin Tieve calls her house is open to those needing the skills of a back-alley healer. Outlaws in need of stitching, proper noblefolk looking for emmenagogues, and more. Tieve has it all, and will not ask for payment or justification at any time, provided the patient promises respect while in the forest. People ought to be tended to, and no exceptions will be made.
๐ณ Ally within the boughs. This is known: Ixali, Sylphs, Mhigan, Duskwight and Keeper populations are treated horribly within Gridania. Tieve, also living on the fringes of its society in spite of being embedded in it, acts as ally within the Fane to the downtrodden. In need of assistance for diplomacy's sake, or to find passage to the city, the character has been in contact or seeks contact with Tieve.
๐๏ธ Baelsar's Wall, the Gyr Abanian Campaign, the Ilsabardian Contingent. Enrolled as conjurer for the Adders, Tieve participated in the most recent campaigns that shaped the current state of the Alliance and Eorzea, and has also done rehabilitative work with former conscripts or Garlean soldiers. Perhaps your character has seen her on battlefields, or awoke as patient in one of her tents.

๐Hilda Corwell's little one. In old tongue, Tieve would mean hillside: the place where she was found by the Coerthan border, some two decades ago, near her mother's lifeless body. It is said that when the wailers cut the umbilical cord and seized the babe, they recognized the parent as Hilda Corwell, a hedge witch of the Shroud. A woman known to be a peerless Hearer, but loathed by Gridania due to her lack of cooperation with the Fane, and support of those alienated by the Elementals. The character has knowledge or interest in Hilda, and seeks to share it all with Tieve.
๐ฆด To read bones and entrails, to guide. Tieve is also known for her complicity with Nymeia, sometimes inflicted with visions, or a potent understanding of the paths ahead. She owns an old Gelmorran board on which she reads futures untold, by throwing knucklebones, among other things. Your character needs this kind of guidance, and seeks her for that very reason.
๐งญ Guide of the Twelveswoods. It is said there is not a single part of the Twelveswoods Tieve has not explored on her lonesome. Even the uncharted, wilder, or otherwise cursed parts of the forest do not seem to phase her. For the right favor, she will guide the characters wherever they need to be guided, and prevent attraction of woodsin all the while.
๐ The tramp. Accusations of promiscuity fused once upon a time, and still do every now and then, for those who know where to listen within Gridania. Tieve's late teenage years were marked with unreasonable acts of looseness, according to hard gossip. For some reason, the character knows more about this, and/or has met her because of this situation.
Narrative intent and challenges
Albeit extremely simple in appearance, design, capacity and chosen archetype, Tieve is one of the most layered characters I own on FFXIV next to Nathaniel as of now. Though young, seemingly docile and nurturing, prone to enabling and keeping her thoughts to herself, Tieve should not be taken lightly, or be infantilized out of character. Her main themes are centered around the unseen, spirituality, loneliness, abandonment, loss of agency, feminine horror, sexuality and acts of resilience. Tieve is my essay on "healer girls" tropes across all media, though especially JRPGs. She is the result of young women being forced to carry responsibility early on, and forced into molds they are not shaped for. Tieve may not be emotionally available or engage in deeper interactions if characters fail to figure her out. If you are fond of puzzle boxes bound to curse you upon being forced open, Tieve is for you. Even if Tieve is not figured out, she is still extremely rewarding to play with, and has a lot to offer! Don't be shy, or discouraged, and give her an honest try!
Narrative impossibilities
โ I can not actively role-play Tieve with rogue White Mages, or Black Mages within the Shroud.
(Why?) Tieve is Shroud-born, and extremely faithful. If Gridania's policies are not things she always agrees with, she's been raised with cautionary tales of the War of the Magi, and believes magic of the Black and White should be left alone. She will likely feel the character's crystal, and attempt to warn local authorities and/or spiritualists apt to capture or subdue the offender. She's terrified of the consequences of misused power, and the Shroud's incessant warnings do not help. Exceptions can be made, but we'll need to work our ways around it together... Thoroughly!
ยซ There are many ways to live, or make a living. I think it is important to consider such a thing before handing over advice left and right, don't you think? ยป
โ A good-humored Tieve exchanging with a friend.
